Sunny Thoughts (On a Not-So-Sunny Day)Posted: January 15, 2013
I am feeling a bit like a wet rat, and I have a major case of cabin fever. In less than two months, we have had almost two feet of rain . . . and most of that has come in the last week. (Apologies to my friends in England and the Pacific Northwest for my whiny attitude about our weather. I know that you put up with this all the time, and I have complete admiration for your ability to do so.) My back yard is a cross between a lake and a swamp, and my two-month-old roof is leaking.
It seems that every day is a bad hair day, and that is extremely hard for a blonde to handle. Every time I go out and come back inside, I must have my feet wiped and my body toweled. My human mommy is starting to think of possible rain gear for me. She has mentioned putting plastic baggies on my feet and a large garbage bag around my body. Please, please let the rain stop before we reach that stage!
So I am trying very, very hard to have sunny thoughts. I am remembering the warm glow of the sun at about this time last year. I was playing in a beautiful, dry field in St. Francisville, very near my home. It was a wonderful day.
And how is this for a little dash of Golden sunshine? This is my human daddy’s favorite picture of me. He took it at a little league baseball field slightly less than two years ago. Ahh . . . sunny thoughts will just have to carry me through until this horrible rain moves long.
