Say Cheese . . . Please

It’s that time of year again. Pet parents–aka pawrents–around the globe are struggling to capture the furrier members of their families in that perfect holiday pose. Can you sense the worldwide stress?

It was all so much easier before Tallulah Bee joined our family. I sat. I posed. My human mommy/personal photographer snapped. And the Christmas photo was complete. (Click here, here, and here to see some of my photos from Christmases past.)

This is Tallulah’s third Christmas, so you would think that my little sister would have the hang of it by now. Think again. She managed to stick her tongue out for at least half of the attempts.

And when her tongue wasn’t sticking out, her eyes were closed.

Okay, I was a little guilty of that offense too. By the way, Mommy realized too late that she probably should have pulled that weed before the photo shoot started. Seeing it in photo after photo helps Tallulah feel slightly better knowing that she wasn’t the only obstacle to capturing the perfect holiday picture.

It was all oh so tiring for a seasoned professional like me.

We eventually got the perfect shot . . . or the this-will-have-to-do-because-we’re-running-out-of-time-and-it-probably-won’t-get-any-better-than-this photo. Clearly, this was not it. Just like those packages under the tree, you’ll have to wait for Christmas morning to see the final product. I think it will be worth the wait . . . and the effort!

Footnote: Our special Christmas bandanas are from our friends at Geaux Fideaux Pet Accessories and Bandanas. It’s not too late to peruse their holiday collections and order your very own beautiful bandanas. They also have college colors, spring looks, summer styles, and more. Click here to take a look.

Madison is only a year old, but she created some issues for our photo too. She real good alone, but when she gets bored waiting for all three of us to be in order, the nonsense button gets turned on. I’m posting our outtakes later this week.

Snorts and rolls with piggy laughter. It doesn’t matter sweet friends – ya’ll are beautiful regardless. I think around the Hotel Thompson we are so used to the snapping of the camera by now. It drives us all crazy for sure. XOXO – Bacon

  3. OMD…I soooooo share your angst about the ‘pawfect’ pet photo. I happens at Christmas, it happens at Thanksgiving, it happens whenever I try to get a posed photo. Those two knuckleheads seem to know and do their best to make life as a photographer a living hell. Those turned heads seem to be their most favorite foil. You guys look so adorable and love the way your front door is so lovingly decorated. Norman Rockwell’s got nothing on you guys.

  4. KDKH says:

You are so determined! I don’t even try to get our 4 dogs to pose together. It just isn’t going to happen. I loved your out-takes!

  5. Amy says:

Yes, photo shoots were fast and easy when it was just Lexi. Now….*shudder*

  6. I think all in all they did quite well!

  7. Maggie & Kenai says:

Your mommy has the patience of a SAINT!!!

BOL!!!!! OMD I TOTALLY know what you are going through. This only my second Christmas but because I am so used to my humom taking photos, I’ve learned to sit, stay and look at the camera. I too and guilty of blinking from time to time but before Nymeria it was just me and Keiko and we were definitely seasoned professionals! Now I have to sit there for extended period of time while Nymeria looks around and does the EXACT same things as Tallulah Bee!!! I feel your pain! (and my humom sympathizes with your humom too!) I still think they were all great photos though! We thoroughly enjoyed them! 🙂

  9. Great photos – all of them! Those sweet girls are perfect in their imperfection. Merry Christmas to MHL and Tallulah Bee from Kali and Kloe.

  10. MOL MOL! Mom tried again this year with the Girls and the tree…..EPIC fail 🙂 At least you guys got some photos! Looking beautiful as always ladies!

Awesome pictures! They sure made me smile. 😊

  12. Skipper always says he gets 50% in all of our photos. Two dogs that don’t pose can be rather trying. Thank dog for photoshop!

  13. Pam Greer says:

    I love the photos!!

  14. Lovely photos! I love our takes!

  15. OMD, it’s hard enough to get a pretty posed picture of Honey. I can’t imagine getting two dogs looking perfect at the exact same time.

I think I’d take two solo pictures and photoshop them together. 🙂

Can’t wait to see the final result.

  16. Ogee says:

Eyes closed. Eyes open. Tongue in or out. You are both adorable!

  17. These are absolutely hilarious, Miss HL. Your sister is a tough nut to crack… And by nut I mean NUT! Your mom’s pose, click, publish days are over!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

I can hardly ever get Aspen and Mica in the same picture, and Aspen has already been threatened for knocking things off the tree. Not sure we will even try this year!

  19. Jan K says:

These shots are so fun! We have the opposite problem around here, it’s the older, fidgety beagle who won’t sit still for photos, and our young guy who poses so nicely!
