On the Second Day of Christmas . . .

. . . I had half a banana. Now that might not sound like such a big deal; but for the last several months, I’ve been on a food trial. I don’t want to go all old-lady-talking-about-her-ailments on you, so here’s the short version: I started having some skin issues a while back. We tried to treat them with topical and oral antibiotics, but the issues just kept coming back. So my team of veterinarians determined that I might have a food allergy. I’ll go into more detail later (because what I’ve gone through might be helpful for others), but I’ve been on a super-restricted diet . . . until this week. Yippee!

Yesterday, we got the green light to introduce a non-restricted item to my diet. And my human mommy chose bananas, because she knows that nanners are my all-time favorite treat . . . ever! I’ll have half a banana for three days and then I’ll go back to my special food for two weeks so we can make sure that I don’t have a reaction. Like I said, more details on all of this stuff to come later, but let me just say this:

Nanners are the best Christmas treat EVER! I just want to thank Santa Claus for my amazing Christmas gift. I know that my veterinarian team and my human mommy had a lot to do with adding bananas to my diet, but only Santa could have made it happen at this special time of year. πŸ˜‰

    • Mommy’s starting with the easy stuff like fruits and vegetable and saving the proteins for way down the line. I tried to tell her that would be like me not letting her have wine for a few months. She didn’t seem to understand. 😦

I’m glad you got a bite of your favorite treat for Christmas. I hope your not allergic to those. Aspen gets allergies spring through fall so far we just use topical meds. Merry Christmas.

    • Merry Christmas to you! I’m glad the topicals are working for you. Allergies are soooo frustrating, but Mommy keeps reminding herself that we could be dealing with much worse things.

Emma loved to have her piece of banana every morning. Now Bailie gets to have it. Mom gave me a piece the other day. I didn’t like it. I guess not everyone is bananas.

  5. You’re a very happy girl!

  6. So exciting, Miss HL! You may be the first ever doggie to tackle the problem of what-is-this-freakin-dog-allergic-to. Paws crossed that it’s not bananas!

    Love and licks,

I hope the food trial resolves those nasty skin issues. No girl needs to be bothered with those! Merry Christmas to you both (and mama, too!).
