Such a perfect end to this Christmas season.
On the Eleventh Day of Christmas . . .

Tallulah and I welcomed Mr. Sunshine and Miss Blue Sky back into our lives. It seems we’ve had nothing but clouds, fog, and rain since Christmas, so you cannot begin to imagine how happy this day makes us.
Wishing you sunny skies and wide open fields. 🙂

Say Cheese . . . Please
Posted: December 12, 2017 Filed under: Things I Like | Tags: Christmas, Dogs, Golden Retriever, Harper Lee, Pet Photography, Pets, Photography, Tallulah, Thek9harperlee 19 CommentsIt’s that time of year again. Pet parents–aka pawrents–around the globe are struggling to capture the furrier members of their families in that perfect holiday pose. Can you sense the worldwide stress?
It was all so much easier before Tallulah Bee joined our family. I sat. I posed. My human mommy/personal photographer snapped. And the Christmas photo was complete. (Click here, here, and here to see some of my photos from Christmases past.)
This is Tallulah’s third Christmas, so you would think that my little sister would have the hang of it by now. Think again. She managed to stick her tongue out for at least half of the attempts.
And when her tongue wasn’t sticking out, her eyes were closed.
Okay, I was a little guilty of that offense too. By the way, Mommy realized too late that she probably should have pulled that weed before the photo shoot started. Seeing it in photo after photo helps Tallulah feel slightly better knowing that she wasn’t the only obstacle to capturing the perfect holiday picture.
It was all oh so tiring for a seasoned professional like me.
We eventually got the perfect shot . . . or the this-will-have-to-do-because-we’re-running-out-of-time-and-it-probably-won’t-get-any-better-than-this photo. Clearly, this was not it. Just like those packages under the tree, you’ll have to wait for Christmas morning to see the final product. I think it will be worth the wait . . . and the effort!
Footnote: Our special Christmas bandanas are from our friends at Geaux Fideaux Pet Accessories and Bandanas. It’s not too late to peruse their holiday collections and order your very own beautiful bandanas. They also have college colors, spring looks, summer styles, and more. Click here to take a look.
An Early Delivery from Santa
Posted: December 8, 2017 Filed under: Things I Like | Tags: Christmas, Dogs, Golden Retriever, Harper Lee, My Beds, Pet Photography, Pets, Photography, Tallulah, Thek9harperlee 34 CommentsEarlier this week, the weather humans started predicting doom and gloom: days and days of cold, cloudy, windy, rainy, sleety, and even possibly snowy days. Not your typical New Orleans forecast. When Santa saw what Tallulah and I faced, he made a special early delivery just for us.
Our Christmas beds arrived Tuesday, and Tallulah and could not possibly be happier . . . or more comfy, cozy, and warm.
It’s as if I’m sleeping on a cloud. Santa even brought a third bed that stays in the bedroom. I get to sleep on that one at night. It’s just for me. No sharing with Tallulah . . . just like when I was an only dog and didn’t have to share. Santa is such a great guy.
We’ll have cold temps through next week, but at least the sun should come back to see us by this weekend. Until then, Tallulah and I will enjoy our early Christmas presents as we dream about Santa.
“Wait a minute,” Tallulah said. “Santa’s still coming back on Christmas Eve to bring more stuff, right?” Yes, Tallulah, Santa will be here again. You can go back to sleep.
I wish you a perfectly peaceful weekend . . . and sweet dreams. ❤
Blogging, a Beach Break . . . and I’m Back!

I sure missed you. First let me say thank you to everyone who joined me for the October Daily Photo Challenge, and thank you for all of your sweet comments. My human mommy/blogging assistant and I got a bit behind with our replies, but we read and enjoyed each and every single message you shared. After the challenges of daily posts in October, we took a little break in November. And what better place to recharge your blogging batteries than a beautiful beach.
Tallulah and I supervised the humans as they loaded the chariot and we all set out for Dauphin Island, Alabama. It’s slightly more than a two-hour drive from New Orleans, but when we arrived we felt as if we were a world away.
By the time we unloaded the chariot and settled into our home-away-from-home, Mother Nature was welcoming us with a breathtaking sunset.
I gazed out at the Gulf of Mexico and wondered what adventures the next day would bring . . .
. . . and then Tallulah and I crashed.
We were up with the sun the next morning.
Tallulah had her eye on the water . . .
. . . and before long her toes were in the sand. It was nearly impossible to keep Tallulah on dry land. She hopped over and through the waves, proved to us that she really can swim, ran along the beach, and then did it all over again and again.
As for me, I did my best Baywatch lifeguard impersonation and warned Tallulah and my human daddy to stay near the shore. Mommy says I was slightly obnoxious. I prefer to think of myself as a concerned and loving older sister.
Our second sunrise on Dauphin Island hinted at rougher weather to come. The island is no stranger to meteorological challenges. Just weeks before our getaway, Hurricane Nate made a little visit.
The storm’s winds and tidal surge covered the main road with about six feet of sand. The sand has since been plowed to the roadside and will eventually be sifted and returned to the beach, but for now it makes the road feel a bit like a tunnel.
The slightly rougher surf of our second beach day did little to deter Tallulah’s inner mermaid . . .
. . . but the cooler temperatures and overcast skies drove our humans to the beach house’s deck, where I caught up on some much-needed sleep after a busy October and Tallulah kept an eye to the sky as she tracked every single pelican and seagull that flew overhead. The poor girl might be slightly confused about exactly what it means to be a bird dog.
We watched the sun set on our last full Dauphin Island day with a determination to return as soon as possible. The little barrier island off the coast of Alabama was the perfect place to get away from it all and recharge before a busy holiday season . . . and it was the perfect springboard to bet back to blogging.
October Photo Challenge Day 18: NO MAKEUP
Posted: October 18, 2017 Filed under: Dogs I Like, Places I Like | Tags: #octoberphotochallenge, Dogs, Golden Retriever, Harper Lee, No Makeup, October Photo Challenge, Pet Photography, Pets, Photography, Tallulah, Thek9harperlee 10 CommentsA couple of weeks ago, I had fun at my sister’s expense when the October Photo Challenge theme was MAKEUP. Well today’s challenge is NO MAKEUP, so I give you my little sister, Tallulah Bee, in all of her natural glory. It’s hard for a big sister to say this, but I think Tallulah is a very pretty girl. She’s sweet, too. But so far I have the slight edge when it comes to obedience. 🙂
I cannot wait to show you my weather tomorrow. Autumn finally made an appearance in New Orleans!
October Photo Challenge Day 13: LOCK SCREEN
Posted: October 13, 2017 Filed under: Things I Like | Tags: #octoberphotochallenge, Dogs, Golden Retriever, Harper Lee, Lock Screen, October Photo Challenge, Pet Photography, Pets, Photography, Thek9harperlee 7 CommentsThis is the LOCK SCREEN on my human mommy/blogging assistant’s computer. Are you surprised that it’s a photo of me? 😉 Mommy took this picture last winter. We’d had a series of rainy, miserable days. And then the sun made a grand appearance, so naturally we headed outside to enjoy it. This photo breaks all the rules when it comes to lighting, but Mommy loves it . . . almost as much as she loves me.
We’ve almost made it through a Friday the 13th friends. Hope it’s been a lucky one for you, and hope you get to do something you love this weekend. Cheers!
October Photo Challenge Day 11: BLACK & WHITE
Posted: October 11, 2017 Filed under: Things I Like | Tags: #octoberphotochallenge, Black & White, Black and White, Dogs, Golden Retriever, Harper Lee, October Photo Challenge, Pet Photography, Pets, Photography, Thek9harperlee 22 CommentsA note from Harper Lee’s Mommy: On Day 11 of the October Photo Challenge, Miss Harper Lee is taking a little snooze to recharge her batteries. I love snapping photos of Miss Lee when she sleeps. She’s so peaceful and angelic, especially when she crosses her sweet paws. And I love seeing her in BLACK & WHITE. As beautiful as a Golden Retriever’s coat is in color photos, there’s something about the detail that emerges in black and white that I find irresistible . . . just like Harper Lee.
I’ll let Miss Lee sleep a little longer, and then we’re off to find some fun decorations to share with you tomorrow!

Notice that giant cat just over our shoulders? Well this photo seems appropriate for what I’m about to tell you. The results won’t be official until this Tuesday, but I fear that Tallulah and I failed to win, place, or show in the Impact Advisors 2017 Pet Supermodel Contest. On the last day, at the last minute, we lost third place to a cat–a cat!–that chased us from behind by more than 100 votes and snuck ahead of us as the contest ended.
Oh well, that silly cat may have third place, but Tallulah and I have the best friends ever. Thank you so very much for supporting us!
