A Brief Hiatus and Then Big Things

Sometimes life can take some very unexpected and yet very pleasant turns. Like today when my human mommy handed me this real-life bone–the first I’ve ever had–and said, “Enjoy this, Miss Harper Lee. You’ve earned it.” Wow, talk about your unexpected pleasant surprises! Mommy’s been kind of busy lately, so she feels a little guilty about not devoting her usual amount of time and attention to me. And she says she’s neglected my blog and all my blog friends, too, and that makes her feel kind of rotten.

I think, though, that she has a pretty good excuse: we are in the midst of a move. If all goes well, my humans and I will be moving from Baton Rouge to New Orleans in about a month. Please keep your fingers and paws and even your hooves crossed that things progress smoothly with contracts and inspections and stuff (I don’t really understand any of that, but Mommy says it’s utterly nerve-racking). And when those hurdles are cleared, the packing starts.

But my humans say it will all be worth it, and I believe them. Life is about adventures and opportunities. Just think of what fun it will be when I get to share with you my new life in New Orleans–new places to walk, new friends to meet, new experiences to enjoy. And oh so many new smells! For now, though, I’m going to give my mommy a little blog break so that she can focus on the move. I’ll miss each and every one of you over the next month or so, but Mommy says we’ll be checking in on you as we can. And I’ll have brief updates on Instagram (@thek9harperlee), so I hope you’ll visit me there. Until then, I’m just going to gnaw on this fabulous bone. . . and thank my lucky star that dogs can’t help pack. 😉

  17. Well, Miss Harper Lee, so this is what you are up to these days…moving is quite the adventure! We are delighted that you will be in New Orleans because Slow and Pretty are going to a lesbian literary conference there in July. Perhaps they could have an opportunity to sip an adult beverage with your human mommy and daddy?? That would be the most fun…much more fun than packing which is a total nightmare. We send our sympathies and good wishes for a successful relocation!! 🙂

    • Oh my gosh. Just checked out your blog and I am so happy for you. My human mommy tried to follow you, but couldn’t figure out how to do it (she could be suffering from puppy brain), but we’ve made a request to follow your IG account and cannot wait to see your new sweet puppy. Congratulations!
