October Photo Challenge Day 9: HORROR FILM

What’s better than going to see a HORROR FILM? Going to see a horror film at a vintage single-screen movie theatre with an actual organ. Later this month my neighborhood movie house the Prytania Theatre, which is 103 years old, is showing two cult classics . . . at midnight, no less: the original 1978 Halloween, the story of Michael Myers who murders his sister on Halloween night in 1963 and then 15 years later escapes from a mental hospital and returns to his hometown to kill again (eeks!) and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show will include a live shadow cast and the option to buy a prop kit with your ticket, just incase you’ve misplaced all your props from when you used to see Brad and Janet and Dr. Frank-N-Furter and Rocky every weekend 40-or-so years ago. From what I understand, dogs aren’t allowed at the Prytania. That’s fine with me. Midnight is waaaaay past my bedtime.

Do you have a favorite horror film or a favorite place to go the movies?

How fun to go to that theater at midnight for these scary movies! The horror film that scared me the most – even made the hair stand up on the back of my neck – is The Exorcist.

  2. Emmadog says:

We are not fans of scary, so we won’t go, but perfect for your photo.

    • All of this made my human mommy think back to the last time she saw a horror movie. She thinks it was either the original “Halloween” or the original “Friday the 13th.” So I guess that also makes her not a big fan of scary!

  3. M. K. Clinton says:

We don’t usually do scary but we did go see IT. The original was much better.

  4. While I’ve never seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show (I know, I lead a sheltered life), it
s a cult classic here too and always seems to have tons of peeps enjoying it. With an old time organ…priceless.

    • My human mommy had the Rocky Horror soundtrack on eight-track when she was in high school (yep, she’s ancient). She played it so much, it’s a miracle it didn’t disintegrate. But she never actually saw the movie until she went to college. She’s pretty sheltered, too. 😉

How fun to see a Horror story at midnight. If I could stay awake. . .

My humom is way too scared to watch horror movies. She says she will get nightmares. So I guess I’ll never know what a scary movie looks like!
